Muzzafar Yusufali emerged the winner of a delayed October Monthly Mug golf tourney at the Arusha Gymkhana Club (AGC) over the weekend.
Yusufali carded four-over par 76 nett to win Division A top prize in the 18 holes stroke play event. He took it from September champion Simon Travers who finished runner-up on countback and was denied a dream of winning the title for the second consecutive month.
Former national team coach Travers could also not emulate his September good form which helped him win the title with impressive five-under par 67 nett.
The event also missed the services of national team ace Nuru Mollel, who had good score of two-under 38 to win Division A in the Corporate golf tournament last week.
Amir Somji stole the show in the mug event after carding the tournament’s best score of two-under par 70 nett to win Division B title as Riyaz Somji finished second with 73 nett.
Aayush Nathwani carded 79 nett but still managed to claim the Division C title. The score is two adrift of his September performance of 77 that, however, saw him finish second to eventual winner Aliabass Somji, who had 72.
Ashik Nanabhai hit 96 nett to finish second in the tournament whose score for many players was not impressive as it used to be.
The national ladies team ace Madina Iddi had level 72 nett to win the title and also finished as the tournament’s lowest gross score of 75. Runner-up was lady captain Zainab Laicer with 84 nett.
