At least 220 people are expected to be decorated with national medals during the 51st independence celebrations in Rukungiri on Wednesday.
While opening an office for FRONASA veterans Rukungiri branch, the district Chairperson, Charles Byabakama said Front for national salvation (FRONASA) members were among those to receive the medals.
Byabakama who pledged government support to the association added that it was not possible to support an individual because of his/her contribution in the struggle but it is rather better to support the association.
The chairperson of the association, Charles Kanyigana said over 145 members have already registered with the association and they hope many people would join them.
The deputy resident district commissioner, Harriet Nakamya urged veterans to have programmes in churches, schools and any other place where they tell the youth the history of Uganda.
