Twenty-five people have collected nomination forms for the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) general election set for October 27 this year.
The forms started to be collected last Friday and so far two people are vying for the presidency, another two for the post of vice-president and the rest for the executive committee membership representing different zones.
TFF Information Officer Boniface Wambura said that Jamal Malinzi and Omari Mussa Nkwarulo are contesting the presidency while Wallace Karia and Ramadhan Nasibu are vying for the post of vice-president.
Those who are aspiring for executive committee membership are Athuman Kambi, Charles Komba, Davis Mosha, Elias Mwanjala, Eliud Mvella, Epaphra Swai, Farid Nahdi, Hussein Mwamba, Jumbe Magati, Kamwanga Tambwe and Khalid Mohamed.
Others are Muhsin Balhabou, Omari Abdulkadir, Omari Walii, Samwel Nyalla, Shaffih Dauda, Stanley Lugenge, Twahir Njoki, Vedastus Lufano, Venance Mwamoto and Wilfred Kidao. Wambura said only one person – Hamad Yahya — is contesting the chairmanship of the Premier League Board whose election will be held on October 18 this year.
“Nomination forms are available at TFF’s website www.tff.or.tz and the deadline for returning them is 4.00pm on August 20 this year,” he said.
“The forms accompanied by payment receipts or deposit slips through TFF bank account number 01J1019956700 at CRDB bank’s Holland House branch must be returned to TFF secretary general by hand or email: tanfootball@ tff.or.tz,” he added.
Meanwhile, Wambura said Saturday’s Community Shield match at the National Stadium in Saturday between Mainland champions Young Africans and runners-up Azam FC, which served as a curtainraiser for the 2013/2014 Vodacom Premier League, raised 208,107,000/-.
He said 26,084 spectators paid to see the match which Yanga won 1-0. Each club collected 43,731,183/03 while 31, 745,135/90 was 18 per cent Value Added Tax (VAT). Ten per cent of the gross earning, which was 20,810,700/-, went to SOS children centre while ticket printing cost 7,309,866/-.
