The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and Enterprise Uganda have signed a partnership under which the two parties will share knowledge, skills and experience to nurture and boost operations of Small and Medium and Enterprises (SMEs).
Closing financial literacy gaps will be a key priority.
The partnership mandates ACCA members to offer volunteer mentoring services to SMEs benefiting from Business Enterprise Start Tools (BEST) training spearheaded by Enterprise Uganda.
ACCA is a global body comprising members equipped with professional business management knowledge.
According to the executive director of Enterprise Uganda, Charles Ocici, although many local entrepreneurs struggle to acquire initial capital; it is not lack of capital but lack of financial management that leads the largest fraction of those businesses into demise.
“We are optimistic that Enterprise Uganda’s works toward the enterprise development agenda will be bolstered by the professional services of ACCA.
These are people who have expertise in dealing with money matters, thus they will push for adequate financial literacy among the people we train,” Ocici noted after the signing ceremony on Tuesday.
