Access Bank Rwanda unveils new electronic payment system

Access bank Rwanda has rolled out a new payment platform that will enable clients pay taxes, Rwanda Social Security Board (RSSB) fees and traffic fines.

Victor Lindiro, the head of retail banking at the bank, said ‘Access Pay’ was suitable for transferring large sums of money like salaries or payments to contractors and was secure.

“Access Pay allows an individual or business entity to pay taxes, RSSB fees, drivers’ licence and many other fees with ease,” he said in an exclusive interview with Business Times.

Lindiro said the platform was workable for both in branch and online clients irrespective of whether they have accounts with the bank or not.

“Before, people were paying taxes to the Rwanda Revenue Authority account or pension and medical contributions to the RSSB account. The new system will reduce transaction costs and save time,” Lindiro explained.

To use the platform one goes to the Access Pay page on the bank’s website. After logging in, identify what he or she is paying for, then put the amount and lastly click ‘ok’.

Later, they will receive a notification . Lindiro said there was also a printing option that enables one to monitor their previous transactions.
