All is set for the much anticipated CDF Golf Trophy tournament scheduled for September 7- 8 this year at the Tanzania People’s Defence Forces (TPDF) Lugalo course in Dar es Salaam.
Lugalo Golf Club captain Samuel Hagu told the ‘Daily News on Saturday’ that the 36 holes tournament will draw entries from different local clubs.
He said that the two-day event will be played as stroke play basis and is once again sponsored by Tanzania Distilleries Ltd. Hagu said that the entrance fee is 25,000/- per participant, of which 5,000/- will be allocated to junior development programmes.
“We have invited golfers from local clubs and we hope they will come in big numbers to add flavour to the annual tournament and make it a success,” he said. He said that hefty prizes await winners in different categories including the overall winner.
Hagu said that other prizes will go to Division A, B, C, Ladies and Guests in which top three winners will take home handsome awards. The captain said that his club has set aside four lucrative prizes for junior category with the aim of promoting them to take the game seriously.
He added that many other consolation prizes will be handed over to them during the event. The annual event serves as an honour to Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), who is currently General Davis Mwamunyange.
