A group of five Tanzanian famous ladies have voluntarily decided to launch a special campaign to support the collection of funds for building girls hostels in Secondary Schools of Tanzania.

From L to R, Nancy Sumari, Rebecca Gyumi, Mariam Ndaba and Jokate Mwegelo.Speaking at Serena Hotel in Dar es Salaam during the launching of the campaign, the four members of the group, Nancy Sumari (Miss Tanzania 2005), Jokate Mwegelo (Miss Tanzania no.2 2006), Rebecca Gyumi (TV presenter) and Mariam Ndaba (fashion designer) have said this is the time of helping their fellow girls to fulfill their dreams through encouraging people to contribute for the 30 hostels which Tanzania Education Authority (TEA) plans to build.
“Girls have been faced by many challenges which hinder them to participate fully in education. We wish to support them through this special campaign called Their education, Our responsibility.” Rebecca Gyumi who is the famous broadcaster of the TV program called FEMA TV Talk Show said.
“We aim to build at least five hostels among the 30 hostels which TEA target to build all over the country.” Jokate Mwegelo insisted.
The group said their fellow member, Janeth Nyalandu (Miss Tanzania 2004) asked for excuse but will join them in the coming campaigns and they are totally committed to ‘beg’ all citizens to help them.
TEA has been in a campaign which intends to collect Tsh 2.3 Bil so as to build hostels for more than 1,500 girls in Secondary Schools.
