APR make Playoffs after win over 30-Plus

There were no surprises after former champions APR booked the ticket to play in the basketball Playoffs finals following a comfortable 76-46 win over winless 30-Plus at Amahoro indoor stadium on Sunday.

Before the game started, both teams and the spectators observed a minute of silence to remember former APR player Eugene Uwineza, who passed away last Saturday. Nestor Manzi led APR to the win against 30-Plus with 15 points.

With so much at stake, Cliff Owuor set out his APR team on a very clear mission, and the players didn’t let him down as they dominated the first half 34 – 19 before adding 42 points in second half to snatch fourth position from the hands of United Generation Basketball (UGB), who will understandably be disappointed to miss out.

APR and UGB finished level on 17 points but the former edged the latter on points average 1.11 against 0.89.

On Friday, 2011 champions Kigali Basketball Club cemented their second place with a 78-46 win against 30-Plus, who ended the regular season without a single win.

Four teams led by two-times champions and still undefeated Espoir, KBC, Rusizi and APR will contest in  the Playoffs finals, however, the Rwanda Basketball Federation have not yet set the dates.
