All is set for Upper Zonal Arusha Junior Tennis Tournament scheduled to kick off today at the Arusha Gymkhana Club (AGC) courts. Tennis coach Nicolas Jonas told the ‘Daily News on Saturday’ here on Friday that preparations are going on well and juniors are ready for the big show.
Jonas said that juniors from Dar es Salaam, Moshi, Morogoro and hosts Arusha have confirmed their participation and they expect a good tournament, more challenge and new talents at this year’s event as players have improved their game.
He said that the tournament is meant for boys and girls between the age of 8 and 18. It will involve only local players and that those in tennis academy in Rwanda will not be featuring in the event.
“This is an annual tournament which brings together juniors from local based clubs, we are happy to have this tournament this time around, which is good for grooming our junior to the top level,” said Jonas.
Jonas further said that this was the third consecutive year that the Upper Zonal Trading Ltd supports the junior event by becoming the main sponsor. The Arusha coach vowed that his junior players will take the overall trophy as they have best players in the country.
