The residents of Engutukoiti area in Oldonyosambu Ward in Arusha-Rural District recently marched all the way to the Regional Commissioner’s offices, here demanding elevation of their subvillage to a full-fledged one.
“We, the residents of Engutukoiti Sub-Village, which is within the Losinoni Village, feel it is high time that our area was upgraded to a village because our people lack essential public services,” the chairman, Mr Lesker Laizer, stated.
Their statement was read before Mr Exaud Mwanga, the Assistant Regional Administrative Secretary, because the delegation composed of 35 people did not meet the Regional Commissioner, Mr Magessa Mulongo, because he was out on official duties.
According to the villagers, of late there have been border conflicts between them and the residents of the other three sub-villages including Patrumani, Engideko and Lesinoni-Juu and the fighting has usually been over water resources, grazing area and farm boundaries.
