Barber wins motorbike, cash in Vodacom promo

Lawrence Hipoliti, a barber in Kigogo area in Dar es Salaam struck gold twice in the ongoing Vodacom Promotion known as ‘Timka na Bodaboda’ after winning a cash prize and a brand new motor bike in the same week.

Mr Hipoliti told ‘Daily News’ that he first scooped 1m/- before walking home with the motor bike within the same week.

“I am still counting myself very lucky to have both prizes because for a barber and upcoming gospel singer, investing 150,000/- for such a promotion was a risky decision,” he explained.

As the days of the promotion draw to a close, Mr Wilson Urio, a resident of Mbezi Beach over the weekend pocketed 20m/- saying that he was very thankful to the telecommunications company for helping him to improve his life.

Mr Urio who spoke from Moshi where he was holidaying said that winning the jackpot was a dream come true in that it was something he kept telling himself that he would one day win.

“Life these days is increasingly becoming difficult and almost next to impossible for a person like me to land on this amount of money but today Vodacom have proven to me that one should never give up on their dreams,” he said.

Vodacom Public Relations Manager, Mr Matina Nkurlu, said that with the various prizes on offer, Tanzanians are set to deal with some of the challenges they face from day to day.

Some of these challenges include lack of transport facilities as well as limited access to capital to start businesses. A total of 315 motor cycles have already been won through the Timka na Boda boda promotion.

The promotion has also seen 211m/- being won by customers on a daily basis.

“The promotion runs until January 2014, so I call upon customers to continue participating. There is still 119m/- to be competed for and 115 motor bikes are up for grabs,” he said.
