Birmingham City striker Marlon King arrested after hit and run

Birmingham City striker Marlon King has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run crash that left a man injured.

Marlon King has also played for Watford, Middlesbrough and Coventry City

The crash happened near London’s West End at 00:06 BST on Saturday.

Police were called to Bishops Bridge Road at the junction with Eastbourne Terrace over reports that a car had struck a pedestrian.

The man, aged in his late 40s, was taken to a central London hospital with a head injury. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The Metropolitan Police said the vehicle failed to stop at the scene.

A Met spokeswoman said: “A 33-year-old man was subsequently arrested by officers from City of London Police on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of a road traffic collision and taken to a central London police station.

“He has been bailed to mid-September pending further inquiries.”

A spokesman for Birmingham City said the club was aware of the incident.

King, whose previous clubs include Watford, Middlesbrough and Coventry City, is reportedly available on a free transfer and in talks with other Championship clubs about a possible move.

The club has confirmed King was free to look for a new club this summer.
