Junior volleyball team coach Paul Bitok has said he is happy with his team after winning three build-up matches as part of their preparations for the FIVB World Youth Championships due on August 22 in the Turkish cities of Ankara and Izmir.
The team will play the fourth warm-up match on today against IBB Sports in Istanbul before moving to Ismir city on Tuesday where it will play Pool C rivals US, Tunisia, Canada and Serbia, the 2011 bronze medalists.
Bitok’s side will play the last warm-up game against ARKAS junior volleyball club on Tuesday, a day before the world championship gets underway.
The team has been in imperious form since arriving in Istanbul two weeks ago, winning all their three warm-up games so far. They beat Fenerbahçe volleyball club 3-0 and 3-0 on Monday and Wednesday, respectively, as well as IBB junior volleyball club 3-0 on Friday.
“I am happy with our preparations; the boys are coping well and paying attention to every detail during the buildup games.
“In particular, our attack and reception have improved a lot over the last two weeks, and I think we are in position to make a memorable debut in the world championships,” Bitok told Times Sport from Istanbul.
