Brazilian trained coach Mohammed Kiwanuka has joined the long list of coaches eyeing the Cranes job that went vacant after the sacking of Bobby Williamson.
Kiwanuka, who believes he can turn around the fortunes of the national side holds a B License from Brazil. He has been based mainly in South Africa where he was advisor to coach Steve Komphela when he served as acting Bafana Bafana coach.
He also held the advisory role for Komphela at Premiership side Free State Stars FC. Kiwanuka also coached South African 1st Division sides Hanover Park, Knysna Bafana FC and Beaufort Cubs FC.
Kiwanuka attended Brazil’s Institute of Football where he attained his license at an 11-day international symposium in Sao Paulo.
Using his training and experience, Kiwanuka says he is equipped to competitively handle different aspects of the game like nurturing of players.
“My dream is to adopt the successful Brazillian nurturing and progression module into a Ugandan context.”
He argues that foreign resource should only be employed under qualified Ugandan coaches because it is the local personnel that best understand the dynamics.
