At least 11 people identified to be Kenyans have died and more than 38 injured (15 in serious condition) after the road accident which happened at Wami river area involving four vehicles.
Speaking to In2Eastafrica.net reporter via mobile phone, Pwani Regional Police Commander, Ernest Mangu said the accident occurred as the Isuzu Mini Bus KBQ 203 P which was from Kenya to Dar es Salaam overturned at Wami area. Then another Mini Bus KBL 044 M which was in the same journey with the first bus, stopped and passengers in the second bus started to rescue from car their fellows in the first bus. All two buses’ passengers were Kenyan gospel music choir singers.
Unfortunately the Cargo Lorry which was on the way from Tanga to Dar es Salaam, T 229 AFQ crashed the second Mini Bus (KBL 044 M) from the back killing 11 Kenyans on spot, then the Lorry lost direction hence crushing face to face with the Lorry with Registration No. T 272 EWZ which was from Mbeya to Tanga.
On the other side, according to the one of the Dar es Salaam TV stations reporter who is at Tumbi Hospital in Pwani spoke with the Chief Doctor of Tumbi Hospital, Dr Peter Datani confirmed that 12 people were dead, the Hospital received 38 injuries and 15 people who were seriously injured got referral to Muhimbili National Hospital in Dar es Salaam.
The Doctor said they are working hard to ensure the serve the injuries’ lives although said they work in difficult situation because there is no ambulance for referral of other injuries they plan to send to Muhimbili.
