AS Kigali will host Musanze FC this afternoon at Stade de Kigali, Nyamirambo in their second leg of Peace Cup, and coach Andrew Gasambungo is upbeat about his team’s chances of going through to the semifinal.
As Kigali lead 1-0 from the first leg played last week in Musanze thanks to James Tubane, who scored the only goal of the game.
“We need to win because we want to go far in this competition and I hope my team can do that; we won 1-0 away which is good so we will be looking to complete the job at home,” Gasambungo told Times Sport on Monday.
At the weekend, AS Kigali were beaten 3-0 by APR in the national league but Gasambugo has challenged his players to recover from that defeat and book a place in the last four of the lucrative Imbuto Foundation sponsored knockout competition.
“Yes we lost to APR 3-0 which is not good but we can use that as motivation to win against Musanze and look for the revenge against APR in semi finals,” he stated.
“We have prepared well for this game so I hope to get a good result. I know it will be tough game but we are ready for the game”.
Efforts to get a comment from Musanze coach Barrack Hussein, were futile as he had not returned our calls by press time.
In another quarterfinal game, Bugesera host second division rivals Vision FC leading 3-2 from the first leg.
On Wednesday, defending champions APR will play against struggling Isonga. The military side hold a comfortable 3-1 cushion from the first leg. Mukura will visit Muhanga leading 1-0.
