Abuja, Nigeria – Nigerian President Mihammadu Buhari has finally worked out what he promised to the citizens during his last year’s election campaign. He has given approval for selling of a Hawker 4000 and a Falcon 7x executive jet, the two presidential aircraft at the Presidential Air Fleet (PAF).
Buhari added more aircrafts are also in pipeline to be sold in near future to reduce cost. As of now there are ten aircrafts at the PAF and claimed to have affected the revenue of Nigeria.
Prior to the move controversies were ignited in the country whether the president would live up to his words.
The aircraft at PAF include Boeing Business Jet (Boeing 737-800 or AirForce One), one Gulfstream 550, one Gulfstream V (Gulfstream 500), two Falcons 7X, one Hawker Sidley 4000, two AgustaWestland AW 139 helicopters and two AgustaWestland AW 101 helicopters.
Buhari had put out some related advertorial too while preparing to dispose the aircrafts.
Senior Special Assistant on media and publicity to president, Mallam Grana Shehu, confirmed the president made approval for the sale and recalled the move is in line with the APC election campaign made last year by Buhari.
He added the move would help the country to save more money saying, “The newspaper advertisements for the sale of two Presidential aircraft, a Falcon 7x executive jet and Hawker 4000 were duly authorised by the Presidency.”
Shehu said the sale is in line with the president’s directive that aircraft in the Presidential air fleet would be reduced to cut down on waste.
