Constrained by time, veteran driver Wycliffe Bukenya will attack this weekend’s MPU Challenge Rally without route reccing.
The South Sudan based automobile technician told New Vision Sport yesterday that he would solely rely on his co-driver Frank Sserugo for guidance.
“I have returned the car from Nairobi where it was being thoroughly prepared for the race but I have little time for sport. Racing costs money which I have to look for. In fact even taking two days off my work to go racing in Masaka doesn’t make business sense,” Bukenya stated.
Bukenya (Mitsubishi Evo9), Omar Mayanja (Toyota Runnex), Ponsiano Lwakataka (Subaru N8), Jas Mangat (Subaru N12), Duncan Mubiru (Subaru N12), Shafiq Ssemujju (Subaru N11), Ronald Ssebuguzi (Mitsubishi Evo9), Arthur Blick (Subaru N10) and Godfrey Wampamba (Subaru N10) are the prominent drivers among 23 crews that have so far registered for race.
The third round of the National Rally Championship organized by Motorsport Promo Uganda (MPU) will start with a super special stage at Misaali in Masaka Municipality on Saturday ahead of the second leg that will cover five competitive sections in Masaka, Bukomansimbi and Lwengo districts.
Scrutineering of cars will be conducted in Masaka and flag off be in the same town on Saturday morning.
