Speaking to journalists, the CCM Secretary for Ideology and Publicity, Mr Nape Nnauye said that the leaders have been called for questioning here, where the party’s CC is meeting under the party’s chairman, President Jakaya Kikwete.

Mr Nnauye said that those called include CCM Bukoba Chairperson, CCM Regional Secretary, CCM District Chairman for Bukoba Urban, CCM District Secretary and Bukoba Municipal Mayor.

“After handling the councillors’ saga in Bukoba, CC has decided to meet the regional leaders in Dodoma for further deliberations,” he said.

The move comes after the CCM members were dismissed by the Kagera Regional Executive Committee allegedly for undermining the party’s activities.

The move was however, recently revoked by CCM leadership at national level. The councilors include Yusuph Ngaiza of Kashai ward who is also the district CCM chairman and Samwel Ruangisa of Kitendagulo ward who was once a mayor and first regional commissioner of Kagera.

Others are Murungi Kichwabuta (Special Seats), Deusdedith Mutakyawa (Nyanga), Richard Gaspal (Miembeni), Deputy Mayor Alexander Ngalinda (Buhembe), Dauda Kalumuna (Ijunganyondo) and Robert Katunzi (Hamugembe).

The councillors were collectively stripped off their powers in a meeting by the regional executive committee in Bukoba, but the action was repelled on grounds that the party constitution was not adhered to.

Meanwhile, the fate of Kiembe Samaki representative Mansour Himid Yusuf also lies in the hands of the CC that was meeting on Saturday.
