President Yoweri Museveni has held discussions with Canadian investors under their umbrella organization; Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC) in a meeting at State House Entebbe on Tuesday.
The Canadian investors are interested in the development of the Namanve Industrial Park, building of a 132MW power plant in the Albertine Region and upgrading and revitalize Entebbe International Air Port among other things.
Museveni said that there is a lot of potential in Africa; calling on potential Investors especially the already developed countries to come and tap into the unexploited areas especially infrastructure development.
He said that the Ugandan Economy has been developing in single digits despite the challenges saying that with the increased electricity in the country and improved infrastructures, the economy is set to grow in double digits.
The Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC) is a Crown Corporation (Government Owned Enterprise) of the government of Canada and its main activities include entering Government–Government Contracts as prime contractor for acquisitions from Canada, acting as procurement agent for governments of other nations who seek Canadian goods or services etc.
The President directed the line ministries to work together with the entrepreneurs and harmonies their position. The projects are expected to take two to three years and the quality of work will be guaranteed by the government of Canada.
