CCM beefs up campaign team in Moshi civic by-election

Chama Cha Mapinduzi Publicity Secretary, Mr Nape Nnauye, has arrived in Moshi to bolster the campaign team for Kiborloni ward in Moshi municipality.

CCM Secretary of Ideology and Publicity, Mr Nape Nnauye

Mr Nnauye, who addressed a public rally at Shah Tours grounds on Wednesday, wondered why Kiborloni people would support the opposition for 15 good years without any reward.

He urged voters who will exercise their democratic right this Sunday not to repeat their mistake as they would have themselves to blame for lack of development.

The outspoken politician urged the voters to throw their weight behind CCM, saying in only one year they would see how marvelous the party’s work was.

“How do you fail to make a choice between good and bad in broad daylight? For 15 years you have been with the opposition who have given you nothing, save for poverty.

“Wake up now, give us this one year and you will believe what I am saying about this party (CCM), and it does not matter how you love the opposition. Try us this time then you can decide otherwise when another election is held,” said Mr Nnauye.

The election is being held due to the demise of Mr Vincent Rimoy (Chadema), who was also the deputy mayor of Moshi Municipal Council. The contestant on the CCM ticket is Mr Willy Adriano while Mr Frank Kagoma is being fronted by Chadema.

Mr Nnauye said being in the ruling party gave Mr Adriano more mileage than Mr Kagoma because it was CCM’s manifesto that was being implemented until 2015 when the next elections would be held.

The people, noted Mr Nnauye, should understand that the opposition was capitalizing on their problems to hold on to the council seat even though it was not capable of solving them.

He said he knew well how shrewd politicians are and that they were ready to see other people die without themselves getting even a bruise, citing a Kenyan example of the disorder that ensued after the general election in which the then President Mwai Kibaki defeated Mr Raila Odinga. Later, he said, the two reconciled and life went on, but people had suffered already.

Addressing the rally, Mr Adriano promised that if elected he would dedicate his time to serving them, adding that in one year all their problems related to roads, bridges and water services would be history.
