CCM National Executive Committee (NEC) Member, Mr Jerry Silaa, has underscored that constructive criticisms among party leaders is healthy and should not be interpreted wrongly.
Mr Silaa, who is also the Ilala Municipal Council Mayor, made the remarks while issuing cards to 155 new CCM members at the Moshi University College of Business Studies (MUCCoBS) CCM branch over the weekend.
“It is healthy for us to criticise each other when we realise that some of us have gone astray or fail to implement the party’s manifesto,” he said, adding that everyone should be responsible for their own mistakes. He stressed that those making positive criticisms should not be viewed as traitors as doing so would mean condoning mistakes that were being made.
“Let us not view those who are trying to correct us as traitors as this will kill our party and the public is still having confidence in it,” he said. He appealed to leaders of the CCM MUCCoBS branch to join hands with UVCCM in Kilimanjaro and youths from other regions to address issues related to the Loans Board and find solutions.
Earlier, the acting CCM MUCCoBS Branch Secretary, David Warioba said the biggest challenge that most students were facing was acquiring loans, especially those undertaking diploma courses who want to pursue degree courses.
“There are more than 700 diploma students here who want to pursue degrees but cannot do so because the government through the loans board has given priority to form six graduates,” he said.
He called on the government to take action against all CCM leaders who are out to benefit themselves through public offices, which has contributed to most people pointing an accusing finger to the government despite lots of development that has been done.
On his part, the UVCCM Chairman in Kilimanjaro Region, Fredrick Mushi called on the CCM and the government in general to use experts in implementing the party’s manifesto.
