Cheers! Instagram Celebrates 400 Million Active Users Milestone

Mark Zuckerberg may be thinking today acquiring Instagram in 2012 was one of his smartest moves as a CEO of Facebook as it is estimated the photo-sharing app may contribute 14 percent of the total mobile ad revenues of the company by 2017. It is possible if the steady growth is considered.

It is rational too if believed to the latest blog post of Instagram claiming to have reached the milestone of 400 million active users a month. Truly it is a great achievement for the company that has defeated Twitter in figures.

The current active users’ strength a month on Twitter is 316 million, which is just a rise of 15 percent compared to the same period in 2014.

Instagram has seen a big leap in past nine months. Its members’ strength has increased from 300 million to 400 million in such a short period.

It is estimated Instagram may manage to generate ad revenue of $600 million by the end of 2015 and in 2016 it will jump by 146 percent to $1.48 billion.

Instagram has a good appeal to advertisers as it reaches to a different kind of audience compared to Facebook and Twitter. The ad gurus are considering the platform as a good branding tool. Keeping this in mind the company has started introducing features such as sponsored posts to monetize further.

Meanwhile, the growth of Twitter has slowed down. It has seen just 15 percent growth in users in last quarter compared to the same time in 2014.
