China’s presence shines at Tanzania’s trade fair on China Day

Tanzania’s esteemed Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF) recently observed China Day with the launch of a pavilion dedicated to over 100 Chinese exhibitors, showcasing their products and innovations.

During the event, Omar Said Shaaban, the Zanzibar Minister of Trade and Industrial Development, emphasized the significance of China Day as a symbol of the shared vision for a prosperous and sustainable future between Tanzania and China. Shaaban also extended a warm welcome to Chinese tourists, encouraging them to explore the cultural richness and natural beauty of Tanzania’s islands. The East Africa Commercial and Logistics Center (EACLC), the primary sponsor of the 47th DITF, received praise from Shaaban for their contribution.

Shaaban acknowledged the positive impact of Chinese investments in Tanzania, citing job creation, improved infrastructure, and growth in key industries. He then inaugurated the China pavilion, symbolizing the fruitful collaboration between the two nations.

Chen Mingjian, the Chinese Ambassador to Tanzania, expressed optimism regarding the continuous growth of trade between China and Tanzania. Notably, there has been a significant increase in the export volume of high-quality agricultural products from Tanzania to China. Chinese customs data shows that bilateral trade between the two countries reached $3.3 billion in the first five months of the year, representing an 18 percent year-on-year increase. Chen emphasized that China has been Tanzania’s largest trading partner for seven consecutive years.
