Coca-Cola Kwanza stage sports bonanza in Dar


Coca-Cola staged a sports bonanza at the Chang’ombe TCC grounds in Dar es Salaam over the weekend that provided opportunity for the beverage company workers to demonstrate their talents in various games in which winners were rewarded accordingly.

Female and male workers competed in 100 metres race, tug of war, sack racing and football amid a live music entertainment from FM Academia, popularly known as Wazee wa Ngwasuma.

More exciting was a football match pitting the company’s rival teams, Homes Boys and Cheaters, whose supporters remained on their toes throughout the match. The match was decided on penalty shootouts in which Home Boys won 3-1 after the normal 90 minutes had failed to produce the winner.

Commenting on the bonanza, Vaileth Moses, the winner of chicken race, expressed her happiness and described the games as a source of both entertainment and friendship among the workers of the soft drink manufacturing company.

“You can see everybody is happy here because of this bonanza which has brought us together in a different and entertaining environment”, she said.


On his part, Coca-Cola Kwanza Managing Director Basil Gadzios said: “Our aim is to organize this bonanza to give our staff the opportunity to participate in games and enjoy themselves. We also know that sports will make them active and therefore, more productive.”

Coca-Cola have been in the forefront in development soccer talents in Tanzania and elsewhere through the Under-15 football tournament Copa Coca-Cola which is in existence in Tanzania for seven years.

Coca-Cola also sponsor basketball clinics and tournaments in a bid to develop talents.
