Crocodile Bridge Rest Camp (Kruger National Park – Mozambique)

Less than fifty kilometers from the South Africa – Mozambique border, Crocodile Bridge Rest Camp nestles on the banks of the Crocodile River and offers tourists a splendid view of the wildlife visiting the river to drink and hunt. Accommodation in the camp ranges from camping to self-catering chalets and pre-erected tents.

Camping at Crocodile Bridge Rest Camp in the Kruger

The small campground has eighteen individual campsites that are not allocated any numbers. The campsites are not clearly demarcated and visitors are lead by the presence of barbecue facilities and dustbins. There is no grass on the camping ground and several trees provide shade to some of the campsites.

Some of the campsites are situated next to the electrified fence and offer campers a view into the Kruger National Park. Wildlife regularly grazes and walks within sighting distance of the fence and the campsites next to the fence are thus popular. Spotted Hyena often circles the camp at night affording campers a close-up view of the carnivore.

At present, the only entrance for day visitors to the park is through the gate next to the campsites. This at times causes the campsites to be noisy and regular vehicular traffic of different sizes can be a nuisance. The new entrance gate is nearly completed and should be in operation soon, which will result in less traffic driving directly past the campsites.

Two neat ablution facilities and a camp kitchen are available to the campers and the small veld kitchen has boiling water on tap twenty-four hours a day.

Self – Catering Accommodation at Crocodile Bridge Camp, Kruger Game Park

For tourists who want to hear the sounds of the night through the canvas of a tent and do not have their own camping equipment, eight safari tents are for hire inside the Crocodile Bridge Rest Camp. These tents are equipped with single beds, a table and chairs as well as a small refrigerator on the veranda.

Visitors occupying the safari tents share ablutions and kitchen facilities with the campsites. Two of the safari tents are next to the campsites rights next to the fence while the others overlook either the interior of the camp, or parts of the Crocodile River.

Twenty chalets offer accommodation for two to three people. Each chalet has an en-suite bathroom (no baths), small well-equipped kitchenette and fridge/freezer facilities. Some of the chalets offer river view and guests can view the resident wildlife from the veranda of their chalet.
