Tanzania has been invited to take part in this year’s Kenya Ladies Coast Open Golf Tournament scheduled to tee off from August 5 to 10 this year in Mombasa, Kenya.
The Tanzania Ladies Golf Union (TLGU) Honorary Secretary, Anita Siwale told the ‘Daily News’ from Morogoro that they have received invitation from Kenya Ladies Golf Union (KLGU) early this week.
“We received invitation from our counterpart Kenya to play at the five days-long tournament next month,” said Siwale.
She however added that the annual tournament as usual will rotate at three different golf courses in Mombasa. Siwale said according to the invitation programme, the event will be resuming with 18 holes Ladies Coast Open DT. Dobie Invitational, which will be played as Stable Ford format and tee off at the Vipingo Ridge Baobab Championship Golf Course on August 5th.
On August 7 & 8th the event will take its storms at Nyali Golf & Country Clubs. The first day on 7th August players will battle it out on 18 holes Ladies Foursomes sponsored by Kaluworks and second day will be Ladies Coast Open Championship Nyali Bowl.
The 36 holes Stroke Play event which will mark Golfer of the Year event will be sponsored by Aryuv Agencies Ltd. The tournament will reach its climax at Mombasa Golf Club on August 10.
On August 9th there will also be Golfer of the Year event, sponsored by Gold Crown Beverages (K) Ltd, while on 10th August which will be last day of the event the lady golfers will battle it out in Mixed Greensomes with men’s.
The event will be sponsored by National Bank. Siwale said that in the recent years, Tanzania golfers including national team members Angel Eaton, Madina Iddi, Hawa Wanyeche and others have been performing wonders in the event and grabbed all important prizes during the tournament.
Siwale appealed to sponsors and well-wishers to come forward and support the TLGU and individual golfers to enable them take part in the tournament which she said is also important to sharpen their skills.
She said that the draw of the tournament will be conducted at Nyali Golf & Country Club on 2nd August 2013, while deadline for those wishing to take part to register for the event, is set to be August 1st.
