For the first time in history, the Tanzania Hockey Association (THA) will send national men’s and ladies teams to this year’s Hockey Africa Cup of Nations championship.

The ten-day tournament will run from September 26 to October 10 this year in Nairobi, Kenya. Speaking to the ‘Daily News on Saturday’ in Dar es Salaam, THA Secretary General Kaushik Doshi said the prestigious event was earlier planned to be held in Cairo, Egypt, but it will now be hosted by the Kenya Hockey Union in collaboration with Africa Hockey Federation (AHF) along with the Federation of International Hockey (FIH).
“Tanzania will be sending its national hockey sides both in men’s and ladies categories to participate in the prestigious hockey tournament,” he said.
However, Doshi said that sending the teams will depend on the fiscal capability of the association and the support they might get from sponsors. THA is currently busy looking for sponsorship to support the teams.
