A trader, Nurdin Ally (63), appeared before the Kisutu Resident Magistrate’s Court in Dar es Salaam yesterday charged with forging a sale contract for a plot valued at 500m/-.

Before Principal Resident Magistrate Gabriel Mirumbe, the accused denied the charges. He was remanded in custody for failure to meet the set bail conditions.
The magistrate had ordered the accused to secure two reliable sureties who were to sign a bond of 50m/- each. One of the sureties, according to the magistrate, was required to surrender in court a title deed of immovable property with certified value of the same amount.
The case comes up today for further bail consideration. Investigations, according to the prosecution, have not been completed. Senior State Attorney Prosper Mwangamila, for the prosecution, told the court that at unknown time and place in the city, with intent to defraud or deceive, Ally forged the contract of disposition of a right of occupancy dated December 15, 2004.
The accused person, the prosecutor alleged, purported to show that one Janeth Nyakulilo Kussaga agreed to buy a piece of land situated on Plot Number 482 Block F, Tegeta area, valued at 500m/-, which he knew to be false.
It was alleged further that the accused person tendered the document to the Chairman of Kinondoni Land and Housing Tribunal for the alleged purpose.
Meanwhile, before the same court, the prosecution yesterday asked for more time to complete investigations into a case against a Nigerian national, Okwudilu Agu (40), who is charged with trafficking in illicit drugs, namely heroin, valued at 57m/-.
The magistrate granted the prosecution’s request and adjourned the matter to February 3. In the trial, the Nigerian is alleged to have committed the offence on December 29, last year, at Julius Nyerere International Airport in Ilala district, in the city.
The prosecutor further alleged that the accused was unlawfully found with 1273.69 grammes of heroin estimated to be valued at 57,316,000/-.
