DGC set to host charity golf tourney tomorrow

All is set for the Chipua Fund A Child Charity golf tournament set for the weekend at the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club (DGC) course. DGC captain Akhil Yusufali said preparations are in top gear and appealed to golfers to turn up in large number to make the event a success.

“I am pleased to inform golfers that we shall be hosting a charity event this Saturday, November 16, 2013. Entry sheet has been posted at the club’s notice board for registration and you may email us to register for the event,” he said.

Yusufali said that the competition has been organised by a young man and keen golfer Sameer Nazarali, the son of Shakil Nazerali. Both father and son play golf at the club. He said that the charity event will benefit the Chipua Fund A Child.

The fund supports and pays for education of underprivileged orphan girls to enable them complete high school. Sameer is a student at International School of Tanganyika (IST) of Dar es Salaam and has managed to secure sponsors for the event, according to Yusufali.

“I am very proud of the fact that we have amongst our club and our section such promising young people who are trying to make a difference. The money is for educational purposes and can help improve someone’s life,” said the captain.

“It is my personal request to all golfers to participate in this event and generously contribute whatever they can. I assure you the event will not disappoint you.” Yusufali said that there are some wonderful prizes on offer for the Chipua Charity golf day on which the overall winner, apart from the trophy, will take home a Dar-Zanzibar return air ticket. He said that since the event aims to raise money for charity, entry fee has been set at 25,000/- per player.
