KENYA: Members of the National Assembly yet again turned the House into an arena for exchange of insults as they argued on whether committee chairpersons give satisfactory statements.
Deputy Speaker Joyce Laboso went through a hectic time trying to cool down tempers and to bring order to the House.
Legislators who used nasty words against their colleagues were forced to withdraw their statements and apologise but the orders by the Deputy Speaker seemed not to deter others from repeating the same soon after.
Trouble started when Administration and National Security Chairman Asman Kamama was issuing a statement regarding insecurity in Mwala. CORD MPs interrupted his speech severally arguing his answers were unsatisfactory.
Jubilee counterparts defended Kamama stating his answers were from the Interior and Coordination of National Government Cabinet Secretary Joseph ole Lenku.
Sirisia MP Major (Rtd) John Waluke said the House should not be taking answers from people who are out of mind.
Laboso quickly intervened and demanded to know from Waluke whether he knew the meaning of out of mind.
Meru County women MP Florence Kajuju rose on a point of order seeking clarrification of “out of mind.”
Duale said CORD MPs are sycophants of their alliance’s leadership. “I am happy that I am not a follower of an election loser,” Duale said.
