Angel was unstoppable in the 18-hole Stroke Play event that was one of the Kenya Ladies Golfer of the Year event, sponsored by Gold Crown Beverages (K) Ltd.

The long hitting lady was like a wounded animal as she stretched her shoulders to conquer other top golfers from Tanzania and hosts Kenya to return a stunning score of level par 72 gross at the nine holes Mombasa course located at the shores of Indian Ocean.

She overcame a strong wind and other challenges to win home top prize in the tournament that was dominated by Tanzanian girls. The ladies took all three silver category top prizes of the day.

Angel added her latest trophy to 36 holes Stroke Play Nyali Bowl Championship that she won on Thursday after collecting 152 (78,74) and Stable Ford format (38 points) she won at the Vipingo Ridge Baobab Championship Golf Course on Monday.

Since day one of the non-stop six-day event, which played at four different courses in Mombasa, Angel never missed the top two spots. She won three so far and finishes second twice. Leisure Trophy winner Madina Iddi finished first runners up with four shots adrift of the champion after she carded 76, while Neema Olomi settled second runners up with 79 gross.

The Kenyan top lady golfer Naomi Wafula who finished second to Angel at Nyali Bowl, could not maintain her good form this time around after finishing fourth overall with 83. So far, Tanzania only lost at the 18 holes Scratch Ladies Foursomes at Nyali Club on Wednesday.

The trophy went to Kenyan Mary Nyanchama and Naomi Wafula, who returned 26 points results. The Tanzania Ladies Golf Union (TLGU) Secretary Anita Siwale told the ‘Sunday News’ “I’m very proud of our girls, they did it again!

“Kenyans are wondering we came with only few girls but still manage to take almost everything,” said Siwale. The girls were on action yesterday at Mombasa Golf Club for Mixed Greensomes with men’s on the last day of the Coast Open series.
