Effective participation of community in education matters will help to bring change to the sector and facilitate responsible stakeholders to provide quality education affordably.
This was said in Dar es Salaam by The Deputy Minister for Education and Vocational Training, Mr Philipo Mulugo.
He said that with the current growing of technology it is important to keep the society informed about the education sector as it will reduce the myth of sending children abroad for getting quality education.
“Currently the rate of sending children abroad for quality education has decreased as there are also good schools in the country,” Mr Mulugo said while launching the Exhibitions dubbed Vodacom Elimu Expo which is set to start at the end of August at Posta grounds in Kijitonyama.
Mr Mulugo added that it is important to increase more effort in educating teachers and students on emerging trends in information system and communication services towards building the capacity to cope with the technological advancement.
He further added that it is vital for education stakeholders to attend as it will help them explore the available opportunities, identify the challenges and network in finding solutions. Expounding further, he said, the exhibition is the greater opportunity for all those involved to discuss and come with solutions which affect smooth running of learning institutions.
“The government will provide support to make this exhibition a success,” said Mulugo. Director of Elimu Solutions Limited who is also the Project Manager, Mr Joel Njama, said that the exhibition will provide a unique platform for policy makers, development partners, parents, students and the general public.
According to Mr Njama in relation to 100 exhibitors from the social and economic divide are expected to showcase their products and services, adding that they will get a chance to speak about their products and meet with people who are interested in them.
Elaborating further he said the event theme is “Quality Education is Our children’s destiny, Lets shape it together.” Mr Njama said they are expecting more than 150,000 visitors to attend and parents are highly encouraged to be among the visitors as it will give them a broad light about the best school to send their children instead of focusing on sending their children abroad.
The Vodacom Head of Brand and Communication Kelvin Twisa said that they have decided to sponsor the exhibition, as it is one among their company policy to contribute to the country education development which has a greater impact to the future generation.
