According to the Senior Officer of Maxicom Africa which owns the system, Mr Ahmed Lussasi, so far MaxiMalipo has employed over 80 permanent staff and more than 6,000 others work as revenue collection agents in various areas it is now operating.

Mr Lussasi was presenting the company’s brief report to President Jakaya Kikwete as he officiated at the FURSA function which hosted the Youth Entrepreneurship Training Programme on Tuesday.

He said the company supports all the regulations and policies by the government targeting to increase more revenues and generate more national income by improving revenue collection mechanisms.

“We support the government on the application of Electronic Fiscal Devices to collect taxes and through the Maximalipo systems, we will make sure more revenues are collected by using installed systems in the local government offices and other public institutions,” he said.

He thanked the president for recognising their company’s systems which are now doing well, thanks to the guidelines and directives from government organs.

Mr Lussasi appealed for the government to recognise and support organised youth groups who need to be encouraged to believe in what they are doing, convert their challenges into opportunities and boost their innovative skills.

FURSA campaign, he said, has enabled his company meet youths and other entrepreneurship groups in more than 15 regions they visited, terming it as the most successful trip since the establishment of the company four years ago.

Addressing the FURSA campaign on Monday, President Kikwete challenged youths to embrace hard work and innovation that are important in exploring the country’s huge but untapped economic potential.

He encouraged them to make sure they seriously venture into agriculture apart from other business undertakings and do away with the misconception that the sector is for uneducated or poor people.

Mr Kikwete underscored the importance of work discipline as a key tenet for any successful entrepreneur undertaking including agriculture.
