A meeting of an eight-man committee of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party elders and eminent people tasked to try to heal the longstanding rift over party polls has been postponed.
Party president Maj. Gen Mugisha Muntu had set September 27 as the tentative date for an initial meeting for the committee to report to the party’s national executive council on their efforts.
But FDC secretary general Alice Alaso over the weekend said two or three more meetings of the committee are expected before the matter is finally settled.
“I have met with the committee and they told me they still need to interact with two or three individuals before they report to us,” she said, adding: “I cannot tell you when we will meet, but probably early next week.”
Party spokesperson, Wafula Oguttu, last week said although initial meetings had begun, the national executive committee is unable to meet over the matter because the committee set up to analyse the recommendation for fresh polls is yet to finalise its report.
