Female fire-fighters from South Yorkshire do Britain’s first all-women charity calender for Cancer Research UK

Nine smoking hot female fire fighters have got their kit off for a charity calendar.

The ladies, from the Barnsley, Rotherham and Sheffield services, stripped down to their bras for the calendar, which is thought to be the first ever UK female fire fighter calendar.

They were inspired to do it after running the Race For Life for breast cancer in the summer and it will raise money for Cancer Research UK and the Fire Fighters Charity.

Firefighter Fleur Doyle from Dearne fire station said the photo shoot, which took place at her station, was very different to a typical day at work.

She said: “Working as a firefighter is very unpredictable but you could be sat around the table with the lads having your breakfast and called to anything from a car crash to a house fire or a dog rescue. Alternatively you could have a day where there are no emergency calls and you go around properties fitting smoke alarms and visiting schools.

“At the photo shoot it was a bit daunting to whip our jackets off and expose ourselves in our bras but once we relaxed the photographer made us feel at ease. It was good fun and we’ve all become great friends by doing it.”

Money raised from sales of the calendar – which is being sold on eBay for £6 – will go to Cancer Research UK and the Fire Fighters Charity

Fleur, 37, of Conisborough, said all the girls have had a huge amount of support from their friends, families and male colleagues. Some 1,000 calendars have been printed so far and it is hoped there will be demand for another 1,000 soon.

“It’s everybody’s aim to raise the maximum amount for both charities,” said Fleur. “All of us have friends or family that have been struck by cancer and Cancer Research UK is such a brilliant cause. And we have got colleagues who have been off sick that have been burned in fires and the Fire Fighters Charity does so much for them.”
