FKF youth representative threatens to step down, citing corruption

Football Federation of Kenya ( FKF) Hussein Terry who is a National executive Committee (Nec) member has torn apart the federation by alleging that there was massive misappropriation of funds within the federation.

As a result, Terry has urged the Ministry of Sports to order the Anti-Corruption and Ethics Commission to move in and investigate his claims.

“I am privy to what goes on in the federation and can publicly tell Kenyans that all is not well at FKFheadquarters,” said Terry at a press conference in Mombasa on Saturday.

“ FKF is being run by two individuals if not one and this can not be accepted at the 21st century.

“The truth must be told,” added Terry flanked by the top cream of FKF South Coast branch. “Most of the Nec members are frustrated with the way FKF is being run but they do not speak out in fear of being suspended or victimised,” added Terry.

In a rejoinder, FKF Chairman Sam Nyamweya has denied allegations of misappropriation of funds at the federation, saying the federation was as clean as cotton.

“We are clean and this was evident during our recent Annual General Congress. I must respect the resolutions passed during the congress,” said Nyamweya.

“I respect all my elected Nec members as we work as a team and I can not discuss issues which had already been discussed and adopted at the AGM,” added Nyamweya.

Two years in office

“I promised to intervene and see the suspensions of South Coast branch officials were lifted for sanity (to prevail) in the branch and that is what happened at the AGM,” added the Chairman.

Terry said Kenyans elected him and time has come for him to speak the truth, which in turn shall set him free.

“I have given FKF President Sam Nyamweya 90 days to act on these claims failure to which I would honourably resign. I would not like to be associated with failures and corrupt officials and after the end of our tenure in office we have to account for what we did to warrant us seek fresh mandate,” said Terry.

Terry said government’s intervention through the Anti-Corruption and Ethics Commission would unearth the massive corruption at FKF and prosecute those involved.

“FKF must be run professionally and that is why we were elected into office 21 months ago. In October this year, we would be celebrating two years in office but we have nothing tangible to show Kenyans we have achieved since then,” added Terry.
