BERLIN, Germany, July 17, 2013 – Foreign Minister Westerwelle issued the following statement today (17 July) on the swearing in of the interim Government in Egypt:
“At this fateful hour, all those bearing governmental responsibility in Egypt and taking on new political duties are called upon to play their part to revive the democratic transformation process and to continue implementing the reforms needed.
Everything must be done to involve all relevant social and political players in the process of radical transition.
In turn, it is equally important to halt the horrifying scale of violence being played out in the political clashes by engaging in dialogue and cooperation across political divides.”
