Four people died and another two were injured in separate incidents which occurred over the weekend in Dar es Salaam, police have confirmed.
In the first incident, a bodaboda rider, Asteri Komba, aged between 25-30 years, was killed while two passengers were injured in a road accident which occurred along Chang’ombe road at Keko flats area in Temeke municipality.
Temeke Regional Police Commander, Engerbelt Kiondo, said in the city that the accident occurred at night, adding that it involved a Fekon motorbike with registration number T 452 BYW and a Toyota Hilux double cabin pick-up with registration number T 991 BPP, which was being driven by Walid Juma (45).
“The accident occurred when the motor vehicle driver failed to control the vehicle and collided head on with the motorbike, which also carried two passengers identified as Grace Mandalu and Thobias Mbungo,” he said.
According to Kiondo, the motorcyclist has died on the spot while his passengers were injured and rushed to Temeke hospital for treatment.
Mbungo was treated and discharged while Grace was admitted for further treatment. The body of the deceased was preserved at the same hospital pending burial arrangements and the police had arrested the motor vehicle driver for reckless driving.
In a separate incident two people, Waziri Kasuguru (40) and Shaban Rajab, were found dead in mysterious circumstances in Ilala municipality. Ilala RPC, Marietha Minangi, said. Kasuguru’s body was found along the railway line at Gerezani in Kariakoo area.
“The incident occurred in the evening. The victim was found dead and the body bore no wounds. It was found with a hospital certificate showing that he was suffering from tuberculosis during his lifetime,” she said.
According to Minangi, reports had it that Rajab was found dead in the afternoon in Buguruni Kisiwani area.
