In the suit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, Sha’keir M. Duarte claims Breezy’s employee beat him as the ‘Forever’ singer egged him on during the January fight.
Frank Ocean has forgiven Chris Brown over what happened between them last January, but a cousin of the “Thinkin Bout You” singer apparently does not. An attorney for Sha’keir M. Duarte, involved in the parking-lot brawl at Westlake Recording Studios, confirms to The Wrap that he has filed lawsuit against Breezy in Los Angeles Superior Court.
In the suit filed Tuesday, Duarte alleges that Brown’s employee, identified as “Hood” in the complaint, assaulted him as Rihanna’s ex egged him on. Hood “lunged and struck plaintiff with a punch to his face” as Brown yelled, “Get that N—er!” The employee then “commenced to beat and kick [Duarte] … at least 12 times,” the suit claims.
After the alleged beating, Breezy reportedly told Duarte, “You just got your ass beat and it’s all on camera.” According to the complaint, Duarte suffered “great mental, physical, and nervous pain” as the result of the attack.
The fight over a parking spot erupted on Sunday night, January 27. Brown, who at that time stopped by there to listen to one of the artists he represents, reportedly got told by Ocean, “This is my studio, this is my parking spot.” As he responded with shaking Ocean’s hand, Breezy got attacked by one of Ocean’s people, and it turned worse as more people were on hand.
Ocean, who said his finger was injured in the brawl, did not pursue press charges. “I’m an artist and a modern person. I’ll choose sanity. No criminal charges,” the “Novacane” crooner wrote. “No civil lawsuit. Forgiveness, albeit difficult, is wisdom. Peace, albeit trite, is what I want in my short life. Peace.”
