The Arusha Gymkhana Club (AGC) Chairman Tony Frisby is leading by example after topping the club’s order of merit by 4th January, 2014.
According to the club’s tournament records conducted from last year to 4th January, this year, Gomes is on top of the list, after accumulating 373 points, from 41 tournaments that he played last year and early this year.
The record shows further that Frisby has also registered a largest tournament record compared to others. He led his closest challenger Richard Gomes by 47 points and a tournament. Frisby took it from Gomes the AGC Secretary, who was the last year’s order of merit leader, with 363 points from 42 games.
The Chairman has made a good progress from last year’s fourth place with (279 points) from 38 tournaments. This time around Gomes fell behind to his Chairman Frisby, after he collected 326 points from 40 tournaments.
In the third place is Kamal Jandu with 314 points, while the Tanzania Golf Union (TGU) Treasurer Gelase Ruta, who was in second place last year settled fourth with 308 from 40 tournaments. Last year, Ruta managed 312 points from 39 tournaments that earned him second place.
The youngsters and national team member Nuru Mollel, who owned third place in the last year’s club order of merit with 286 points from 32 tournaments, could not make it even in the top ten this time. She fell to 33 position with 133 points from only 15 tournaments.
Others in the top ten list include Jay Nathwani (265 points) from 33 tournaments, Aayush Nathwani (289) 29, Jason Frisby (247) 34, Mirisho Sarakikya (259) 29 and Hiten Nathwani (231), who played 34 tournaments.
The record shows that those who played more tournaments had acquired important points to stay at the top. Five players are at the bottom with only five points from one tournament each.
About 93 golfers took part in the club tournaments last year, which was low turnout compared to 119, who competed a year before.
