Moses Golola had some measure of satisfaction after edging Hungarian rival  Betya Istavan on points in a non-title kickboxing fight at Kyadondo ground on Friday.

Three judges delivered a 50-48, 50-45 and 49-40 verdict for the talkative Uganda against the European champion.

Golola said after the victory that this is the start of a better future.

“I am back on track,” Golola who was carried by his ecstatic fans remarked.

“I knew I would be there and no one will put me down again.”

Istavan, who admitted defeat, said that it was a tight contest. “He has won and wish him the best,” Istavan said.

Golola, who has attracted the attention of the public to the sport because of his humorous talk, had to win to bring joy to his fans.

He lost his fight against another Hungarian Mate Zsamboki last year. Golola’s previous contest against Andras Nagy, also from Hungary, had ended in controversy.

On Friday, he had to deliver and rightly did so against an opponent with a much better record. Istavan, who had his 31st fight, boosts of 20 wins, five of which came through knock-out. He has suffered 11 defeats.

But a section of the kick boxing fraternity left Kyadondo unhappy.  They argued that Istavan’s fighting approach was a little better and wondered why he did not go on the attack.

This group of fans added they were not in support of any particular fighter and that what they wanted was to watch a good fight.
