According to the club Secretary General Olivier Gakwaya, the new deal for the Frenchman comes with an increment in his monthly salary. Gomez joined Rayon early this year.

“We have agreed with him, everything has been sorted out and he will be with us until July 2015. Giving him a new contract is an indication that we are happy with his work because everyone is judged on his work and he has ticked all the boxes since joining the club in January,” Gakwaya stated.

Rayon were third from bottom of the league when he signed, but in four months, he has turned around the club’s fortunes, leading them to the top of the table and the Blues are favourite to win the league title.

Gomez has chance to celebrate his new deal in some style if he leads Rayon to victory over traditional archrivals SC Kiyovu Sport this Saturday at Amahoro Stadium.

Rayon Sport leading the league with 41 points, one ahead of second-placed Police FC and a further six ahead of the defending champions APR.

“I am honored to sign a new deal because it shows that my bosses have recognised my work so I am very excited, and I hope to continue with good work that this team is doing, starting with Saturday’s game against Kiyovu,” he told Saturday Sport.

He added, “My ambition is to keep Rayon Sport going forward and win titles and maybe be do well in Africa.”

After the coach, Rayon management have plans to tie down several key players including; Kambale Salite, Johnson Bagoole, Faudi Ndayisenga, Karim Nizigiyimana, Faustin Usengimana, Aphrodis and Hategekimana aka Kanombe.
