Gor Mahia take on Chemelil Sugar at Nyayo National Stadium

Nairobi,Kenya:Gor Mahia take on Chemelil Sugar on Saturdays at Nyayo National Stadium hoping to extend their stay at the top of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) standings.

Gor MahiaThe league leaders are targeting more points as they seek to win their first league title since 1995.

Gor have not won since they blanked Muhoroni Youth 3-0 on August 17, allowing their opponents to close in on them in a battle for the league title.

Influential midfielder Patrick Oboya is a great addition to the Gor line-up and looks set to play a major role in their quest for the title this season.

Last Sunday, in form Oboya inspired his side to beat Thika United 2-0 in a GOtv Shield match at City Stadium and he looks set to start his first league match against Chemelil. The player joined Gor after a long stint in Europe and he appears to be on the right path.

Apart from Oboya, Ugandan forward Dan Sserunkuma is another influential option that coach Bobby Williamson may use upfront to pick maximum points against Chemelil.

The sugarmillers have nothing else to play for except the league after being bundled out of the GOtv Shield last weekend and are therefore expected to be at their best in the remaining fixtures.

They will look up to Victor Omondi and Joseph Mwaniki, given their knack to rise to the occasion when called upon.

In another match today, Western Stima host Mathare United at Bukhungu Stadium hoping to continue with their wining ways.

Stima recorded a 4-2 win over Muhoroni Youth recently and will be hoping to win again today.

United need every point they can pick as they fight to escape relegation, which sets the stage for a cracker at Bukhungu Stadium.

United look better endowed with a top striker like Francis Ouma in their line-up.

Furthermore, inexperienced goalkeeper Robert Mboya looks motivated after an outstanding performance against Ulinzi Stars during last  Saturday’s GOtv Shield fixture.

In Muhoroni, home side Youth will be in a battle against Karuturi Sports. Karuturi Sports will be in trouble if they cannot pick all three points. The flowermen edged out Division One side Kariobangi Sharks from the GOtv Shield last weekend.
