19th September 2013, Kenya – The 2nd Women in Leadership Africa Forum & Awards 2013 (WILA), an amazing event that brought together influential women leaders from all over East Africa, took place earlier today and proved to be a huge success for the second time this year.
WILA 2013, a vision conceptualized by IDEANOMICS Global, is fast becoming an ideal platform for women in leadership – from politics to the most important business leaders and entrepreneurs – from various regions in Africa. The innovational two-day event, co-sponsored by Barclays Bank Kenya Ltd, took place at the prestigious InterContinental Nairobi, Kenya, on 18th and 19th September 2013 – which was commended by all who attended and participated in the brilliant forum.
The stellar event, which saw an array of prominent leading women speakers, concluded with the WILA Kenya Awards ceremony. The impressive event started out seeing Ms. Sumayya Hassan-Athmani – CEO of the National Oil Corporation of Kenya Limited – win the Barclays Bank Kenya EXCELLENCE IN BUSINESS AWARD. Thereafter, the Safaricom Kenya YOUNG ACHIEVER OF THE YEAR AWARD went to Ms. Nivi Mukherjee – Serial Entrepreneur & Founder of eLimu; and the Nation Media Group BEST MEDIA PERSONALITY AWARD was given to Ms. Julie Gichuru – co-founder and Director of Arimus Media and TV-show host at Royal Media Services.
Following that, the IDEANOMICS Global EXCELLENCE IN PUBLIC SERVICE AWARD was presented to Dr. Agnes Zani – Senator – Senate of Kenya Office of the Senate – Kenya, while the final award of the incredible night – the IDEANOMICS Global BEST ATHLETIC ACHIEVMENT AWARD went to Ms. Vivian Cheruiyot.
The dynamic and innovative 2nd Women in Leadership Africa Forum & Awards 2013 ended with guests enjoying a lavish cocktail reception and walking away with fabulous gift bags courtesy of L’Oreal.
