In his letter to Malinzi, Hayatou said, “It is with great joy and excitement that I learned about your election as President of the Tanzania Football Federation following elections held on October 27th, 2013 in Dar es Salam.

“On behalf of the CAF Executive Committee and the entire African football family, I would like to offer you my warmest congratulations for your election as President of TFF, providing the perfect avenue to steer national football to new heights,” he said.

“CAF is indeed confident that your experience, know-how and leadership will benefit not only Tanzanian football but also African football as a whole.”

Similar complements came from the Tanzania Sports Writers Association (TASWA) Secretary General Amir Mhando, who promised the association’s support to the new TFF leadership.

“TASWA would like to wish you (Malinzi) and the entire team good luck for your tenure, hoping you will achieve maximum success,” he said.

“We are convinced that your knowledge, experience and leadership will allow the federation to move forward and take football in Tanzania to higher levels of professionalism and performance.”

Malinzi was voted into office on Sunday, beating his rival Athumani Nyamlani to the post. He managed 73 votes to beat outgoing TFF Second Vice-President Nyamlani, who collected 52.

Wallace Karia, who served as Interim Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB) chairman, was elected Vice-President with 67 votes.
