The list of 29 members to the Committee on Appointments will be tabled in the House and a Motion moved for its adoption.

“The House Business Committee (HBC) will table a list of MPs to serve in the Committee on Appointments and thereafter present a Motion for adoption by the House,” Majority Leader in Parliament Aden Duale yesterday told Parliament when it resumed its session.

The Committee on Appointments will vet Cabinet Secretaries previously known as Cabinet Ministers expected to be named next week by the Principals.

The Standing Orders states that Committee membership shall consist of the Speaker (Justin Muturi) as chairperson, the Deputy Speaker (Dr Joyce Laboso), the Leader of the Majority Party (Duale), and the Leader of Minority Party (Francis Nyenze).

The Deputy Majority Leader Naomi Shaban and Deputy Minority Leader Jakoyo Midiwo will be members of the committee by virtue of their positions.

The committee will have not more than 22 other members nominated by the HBC on the basis of proportional membership in the House.

President Uhuru yesterday released a list of 18 ministries only an hour after Duale informed Parliament of the expected move to be taken when MPs resume sitting next week.
