Several hospitals and health centres in Dar es Salaam have received Nebulizer machines for medical treatment of asthma patients.

The machines were given out at a function organized by Tanzania Asthma Foundation (TAF).
Speaking at the event the mayor for Ilala, Mr Jerry Silaa, praised TAF and urged them to continue creating awareness in connection with the non-communicable disease, adding that such efforts will be complemented by government.
Mr Silaa said the foundation’s move to start with creating awareness, conducting seminars for medical doctors and providing equipment to hospital shows commitment in fighting the disease. “This is a good example which clearly shows that these efforts will be sustainable.
I assure you that such efforts will draw more sponsors and the government will come in,” he said.
The hospitals that benefited from the TAF’s offer include National Muhimbili Hospital, Mnazi Mmoja Hospital, Amana Hospital, Mwananyamala Hospital, Temeke Hospital, Buguruni Hospital, Mbagala Hospital, Vingunguti Hospital, Tandika Hospital, SDA Temeke Dispensary and Tabata Health Centre.
TFA founder and chairperson Mrs Amina Plummer said the foundations’ commitment is to assist the government create awareness in the whole country on asthma and ensure those in rural areas access medical assistance.
Mrs Plummer said her foundation will also assist government hospitals in the country to open clinics that will address and attend to asthma patients, to ensure the disease is controlled.
