A SALESMAN at luxury brand Lacoste has been fired after posting a picture of his pay cheque on Instagram.
Wade Groom, 31, is one of the top sellers in the company’s New York based stores, making over $130,000 for the company in June and beating his sales target by 90 per cent, Metro reports.
However he makes just $15 per hour plus three per cent commission and said he posted the picture out of “frustration” at the high cost of living in New York, which is not enough to support his ex-wife and twins.
“Ever since I was a kid I’ve thought it was completely insane that we have to work all our lives. I still feel that way. Especially when it’s only enough to live in a third world apartment with sh***y everything,” he wrote.
Two weeks later he was fired by the company, who said the post infringed on confidentiality agreements.
However Mr Groom said Lacoste had got the wrong end of the stick and the picture was from so far away the numbers couldn’t be read.
“It was more sort of an artistic and personal statement, like I’m working my ass off and it’s only enough to pay for my sh***y, third-world studio apartment,” he told Metro.
Guess Mr Groom has even less money to pay for his sh***y apartment now.
Lacoste has been contacted for comment.
