NAIROBI; KENYA: President Uhuru Kenyatta has stepped up efforts to court regions that did not vote for him during the last elections.
The President yesterday spoke candidly of his push to have a united Kenya and serve all communities saying the Jubilee government will not discriminate against any community on the basis of their political affiliations.
Uhuru said in a competitive democratic election, people are bound to make choices between different parties but once elections are over, the president is duty bound to serve all. “At the end of the day, we pass through competitive politics for the sake of democracy but once elections are over we serve all Kenyans. There is never any indication that any part of Kenya will be left out by my government,” he said.
While pointing at Kisii governor James Ongwae and his Deputy Joash Maaingi who were present, Uhuru said voters in the region had made a choice by picking a CORD governor whom he would work with.
The president was speaking Sunday at the Safari Park hotel when he graced a luncheon by Kisii professionals that was hosted to celebrate the appointment of Dr Fred Matiangi to Cabinet.
“I don’t have solutions to all the problems but I have the passion and commitment to try and solve our common problems and this will be done through continuous engagement with groups like you,” he said.
